Isaac McKneely: Leading the Cavaliers with Grit and Determination

McKneely Reaches 1,000 Career Points While Carrying UVA’s Offense

Isaac McKneely continues to shine as a cornerstone of the Virginia Cavaliers, proving his resilience and leadership on the court. Despite drawing the toughest defensive assignments every game, the 6-foot-4 junior remains a consistent force, leading UVA with 13.9 points per game and shooting 41.8% from beyond the arc.

His latest milestone—surpassing 1,000 career points—came in a hard-fought battle against North Carolina, where he dropped a game-high 17 points.

Even in defeat, McKneely’s work ethic and humility stood out. “It’s not an individual award, in my opinion, it’s a team award,” he said, recognizing the teammates who help create opportunities for him to score.

For a team searching for stability, McKneely’s presence is indispensable. Interim head coach Ron Sanchez emphasized his impact, stating, “He’s done a really good job of carrying that load.” Through defensive pressure, shooting struggles, and the challenges of leading a young roster, McKneely continues to evolve his game, working to become not just a sharpshooter but a complete offensive threat.

His ability to adapt, stay composed, and battle through adversity reflects the qualities that define high-character athletes—grit, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to improvement. We are thrilled to have Isaac on our Character First Athletics Team!
